English Teacher, Antalya
Starting November 2018
We are currently recruiting a Senior English Teacher(s) for an important contract with a major company involved in Turkey’s historic Mediterranean oil and gas exploration.
The successful candidate(s) will work a rota of 28 days offshore, 28 days leave; therefore ability to work away, unsupervised but supported from Istanbul, is essential. The Senior Teacher will be paid TL10,000 plus social security, insurance, and expenses per month, while working offshore, with accommodation and meals provided. This will be followed by a month of leave.
We are open to employing several teachers for a single ‘turn’ of 28 days each, if we do not fill the rota with one or two individuals.
Contracted teaching hours: 140hrs per 28 day turn. Overtime will be paid above and beyond the contracted hours.
Bonuses for successful completion will also apply, up to a further TL10,000 (multiple turns). Teaching materials, curriculum and support will be provided.
1- English Teacher Minimum Professional Requirements – An undergraduate degree AND TEFL/TESOL qualification OR EFL / ESOL related studies completed as part of an undergraduate / post graduate award course from recognised institution (minimum certificate level equivalent) OR A degree in Education (if supported by an undergraduate degree which includes studies focused on language)
2- Teaching Experience: A minimum of one year full time TEFL teaching experience is required. This teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over) and classified as a minimum of 14 hours of face-to-face teaching per week.
3- Assessment of English language competence: In order to be able to teach effectively, teachers must be the equivalent of an IELTS Speaking band 8; Listening, Reading and Writing 8 or above. There will be an interview to gauge English language competency. All applicants, even native speakers are required to complete this section.
4- Professional Attributes and Interpersonal Skills – Completes tasks accurately and in sufficient detail – Observes the need for confidentiality and security – Able to work unsupervised and to command respect of adult learners – Respond positively to guidance and advice – Acts professionally at all times – Communicates effectively with colleagues and learners and treats others with respect – Is sensitive to cultural differences
Candidates will be selected based on experience, performance in the interview and performance at a training day.
